Downtown LA Scandinavian design space, Austere, is showing the collaborations of Henzel Studio, a Swedish textile company, with celebrated artists and a capsule collection by Tom of Finland Foundation. Some of the creations really are pretty astounding, woven by hand (much like our Designer Collection) by skilled artisans from wool and silk, recalling themes from 17th Century tapestries to sculpture and shattered glass using varying pile heights and appliqué.Theexhibition is spread over two floors and sees rugs transcend from floor to wall andin a density that gives the exhibition a bazaar like quality. There are some really interesting works here showcasing just what is achievable when art becomes the primary focus of textile design. Check out the original article on Wallpaper here.
