An oriental design with pale tones to give your interior a bohemian appearance

The Fairfield design is a classic medallion of the Louis De Poortere archive, featuring an elaborate border. It is partly erased as if it hasn't been used for decades and then been rediscovered in the attic.Khayma stands for the traditional tent used by the nomadic tribes in the dessert. By extension, it also stands for the family, the home or the tribe as a whole. The flooring would consist of rugs for comfort and partly for decoration too.Over a century of skill and craftsmanship is woven into every rug we produce. Woven on jacquard Wilton looms with cotton chenille yarns, each beautiful rug has multiple layers of texture, distressed areas and intricate stitching detail to give a true ‘vintage’ look.Woven in a fashionable flat weave construction, all our rugs are hand finished with reinforced corners and an anti-slip layer for a secure fit. There is a superb choice of sizes available too, as each rug is woven in four standard sizes ranging from 140 cm x 200 cm up to 230 cm x 330 cm, ensuring there is a size just right for every room in the home.

The _Construction

Jacquard

Invented in 1804 by Frenchman, Joseph Marie Jacquard, the original Jacquard head simplified the process of machine making complex patterns through a number of punched cards ‘chained' together in sequence. Each card featured a number of punched holes to form a single row of the pattern and the chain could be as long as needed, helping Jacquard equipped looms to produce some really fantastic and surprisingly intricate designs. Now with digital control, modern-day electronic Jacquard machines are computer-controlled, significantly reducing the downtime with changing traditional card machines, avoiding the necessity for repeats and showing almost complete versatility in creating pattern. By far the best way to machine make rugs, electronic Jacquard rug making speeds-up production dramatically, helping to bring beautiful design at a really competitive price point.
