Once only available as a hand-knotted quality, stunning Moth and Snake rugs by Josephine Ford can now be had in a more obtainable hand-tufted construction.
Josephine's work is characterised by fine-weight lines and along with a true gradient - more on this heading your way soon ;-) - these are some of the most difficult details to achieve when hand-making rugs. At the time of their creation last year, Moth and Snake, almost entirely linear in form, could only be produced by the painstaking process of hand-knotting.
Now, thanks to the skills of our expert makers, we've found a way to bring the double meaning of Josephine's symbolic designs to life in a more obtainable hand-tufted quality. Our artisans are some of the best rug makers in world and they've gone above and beyond to get these designs just right; to the untrained eye they look almost identical.
Still made from hand-dyed pure new wool and substituting Chinese silk for a more economical bamboo variety, the less intensive tufting process sees Moth and Snake now available from just £1,500 (160 x 230cm). Both rugs can be made in any size to order. As with the originals, these new hand-tufted styles are made by Goodweave certified makers. The rugs aren't up on the shop yet, but we can take orders right away, so get in touch here.
