Love is like a _rug

In the spirit of St Valentine, here’s an edit of our pink and red rugs… it’s got us thinking, how did such a strong association between these colours and Valentine’s day come about?

Why Red, Pink and White?

Turns out that it seems to go back to Greek Mythology, the first link of the colour red as the colour of love. When the Goddess Aphrodite, the Greek Goddess of love saw her lover Adonis badly wounded she sat with him crying. A tear fell from her face and mixed with Adonis’ blood and fell to the ground which then formed, according to Greek Mythology, the first ever red rose. It’s then speculated that the association with pink comes from the mixing of red (the colour of love) with white (the associated colour of purity).

It all may feel a bit far-fetched but our associations with colour are very real today, why not fill your space with a rug that exuberates the feeling of love?
