Antiquarian Antique Bakhtiari - Khedive Multi 8713 Rug

The Bakhtiari live in the mountainous part of Khuzistan and Isfahan provinces in Iran. The rug shows a floral diamond pattern in feather shaped frames.The design was retrieved from the "Muskabad archives" of Louis De Poortere and given the "distressed treatment".

Invented in 1804 by Frenchman, Joseph Marie Jacquard, the original Jacquard head simplified the process of machine making complex patterns through a number of punched cards ‘chained' together in sequence.
