Blooming lovely
This stunning floral carpet in Brussels' Grand Place is made up of some 600,000 blooms, lovingly arranged by over 100 volunteer gardeners.
Covering some 1,000 square metres in one of the Belgian capital's main squares, the installation took less than four hours to put together for a celebration of belgojapanense friendship dating back some 150 years. An annual event now in its 10th edition, the flower carpet brings together illustrators, designers and landscape architects to deliver the design. Adorned with koi carp and traditional Japenese motifs, the results really are quite extraordinary. We wonder what will be the theme for next year. Check out the original story on Designboom.
