The design itself was based on aerial shot from one of Teck’s copper mines. This image was then translated into rug form by re-designing onto a digital spec sheet which was then signed off by the interior designers leading the project.
We worked with the team to abstract the original image to make it suitable for a tufted rug by simplifying the shapes and colours. The interior designer chose wool and viscose yarns to give a contrast between the rougher wool texture against the shiny copper details giving layers of visual interest, this also linked with other coppery elements within the interior space.
