Kitty Joseph

KITTY JOSEPH IS A LONDON-BASED CONTEMPORARY WOMEN’S WEAR DESIGNER, KNOWN FOR HER INCLUSIVE USE OF COLOUR AND FLATTERING FORMS

Copenhagen-based visual artist Signe Emdal is known for innovative weaving techniques and is represented in the permanent collections of Malmø Art Museum in Sweden and The collection of the Danish Art Foundation. The carpet loom is at the core of Signe’s process, an object that is interlinked with memories and works as a continuous loop of mind and motion.

Signe’s archive of textural woven sculptures and tapestries are a display of vibrancy, volume and breathtaking colour combinations, such as those from the Loop (2020) and Ecdysis (2024) series. A deep thinker, the techniques explored throughout her work are linked with themes of femininity and cultural history.

Working on site-specific pieces alongside her exhibition showcases, Signe has mastered how textiles interplay with spaces derived from cultural heritage. It is through this expertise that Emdal is able to create highly unique work that fuses weaving processes, a unique illustrative style with material tactility.

Chroma Green

A colour wheel rug bursting with marvellous hues of greens and blues defined by deeply carved alternating pile heights that feel phenomenal underfoot, echoing pleats from fashion designer Kitty Joseph's Chroma skirt. Shades of Forest, Emerald, Jade and Olive Green along with a few blue tones to encapsulate a natural palette with some acidic hues to really make the rug pop.

Kitty hand selected the wool pom colours in our East London showroom, taking special care of how they balance and elevate each other. The green colourway came from Kitty’s discovery that the human eye perceives more shades of green than any other colour, this being down to the nature of humans evolving in mainly green surroundings.

‘Chroma Green is not just about bringing the benefits of green indoors, it's also an inspiration to step outside and seek the greens we crave. Don't forget your greens!’

The beauty of this rug is that with so many shades, it’ll fit into many interior schemes as well as adding a dose of texture.

Geranium Optick

Inspired by the accordion pleats that are a thread through the clothing of fashion designer Kitty Joseph, Optick is an exploration of the expressive beauty of a bicolour palette and simultaneous contrast. Combined with subtle geometry and surface carving, Optick appears to shift in design and colour as you move around it. Simply by rotating the rugs in your space, you can shift the colour to fit your mood. What a wonderful way to let people know how your feeling!
