Josephine Ford

Fine artist and illustrator Josephine Ford, has a style that spans many disciplines and mediums and which has appeared on album covers, shop signage, book covers and much more. Josephine has created two works for her first collection for FLOOR_STORY, drawing inspiration from rugs used to tell a story.

Illustrator and creative director, Josephine Ford is famed for her work with fashion houses, musicians and record labels such as Island Records, Polydor and Universal Music. Her unique creative output has also caught the eye of global tech brands Google and Twitter. With a style that is clean and reductive, stripping out unnecessary detail for work of exceptional clarity, Josephine’s designs come from a place of intention, or bear spiritual meaning.

This is showcased in her two designs for the Josephine Ford x FLOOR_STORY capsule in Snake and Moth. Snake sees a meeting in the middle, between the positive symbology of the animal in Indian culture and its negative iconography in Christianity; in Moth an intention to create double meaning in a motif that can be seen as other things. Josephine has created works that takes inspiration from the history of rugs used to tell stories, often carrying family motifs and messages within.
