L’art de la Sol
Our latest collaboration with Henry Holland Studio
L’art de la Sol, meaning "the art of the floor" in French, is a fitting title for our latest rug collection with Henry Holland Studio.
Inspired by Henry’s childhood summers in the French countryside and infused with his signature English eccentricity, this collection is a true fusion of cultures and styles.
There’s plenty to indulge in with this six-part rug collection. The shapes of the rugs are inspired by 1950s French stainless steel tableware Henry found when ‘Brocanting’ with his mother in the French Countryside, featuring deep carving that accentuates their ornate outlines. These intricate details contrast beautifully with the distorted gingham pattern that repeats across the rugs.
“For me, this collection really is a love letter to long summers spent in the French countryside, with a large dollop of English eccentricity,” says Henry Holland.

Holland's love for gingham patterns is evident throughout the collection, but with a modern twist that sets it apart from traditional designs.
The rugs feature bold, vibrant colours that add an unexpected flair to any space. While the gingham pattern may feel familiar, Holland's unique approach gives it a fresh and contemporary edge.
The collection consists of three rug shapes: a circular design (Plat), an oval (Rondelle), and a runner (Ravier), available in brown, blue and green colorways. Custom sizes and colurways available.
Both hand-knotted and tufted versions provide a luxurious woolen pile height to sink into, with each piece hand-finished with carving to emphasize the graphic gingham shapes and deep ridged outlines.

What makes this collection truly special is Holland's ability to seamlessly blend different mediums and techniques.
By incorporating methods and inspirations from Henry Holland Studio ceramic pieces into the context of rug-making, the collection achieves a light-hearted and considered aesthetic and feeling.
We can’t wait to see these rugs in all kinds of spaces, from city apartments to country homes. This fusion of styles strikes the perfect balance between innovation and longevity, forming the foundation of a truly fabulous rug.
