A left-field approach to a flatwoven rug with its broken rectangular shape, offset with fluid yet animated design.
Our collaboration came about after spotting Amechi through the House & Garden Rising Star 2022 prize, it was shortly after this that the ball started rolling with how Amechi could translate his designs into a bold and mood-boosting series of shaped rugs. The collection itself is influenced by meditation, something that Amechi finds as a key part of his everyday life.
Amechi’s place of mindfulness created the basis of the shell-like motif formed from waved lines which was then developed into a series of shaped rugs that overlay to create forms that you can play around with in your space.
This collection opens up floor spaces, moving away from the traditional rectangular rug and instead sees overlapping abstract shapes creating unusual outlines. Their animated, shell-like motifs in bright hues of orange, pinks and greens along with more natural tones are a brilliant way of adding a dose of personality to your space.
The combination of bold, clean outlines forming unusually shaped hand-made rugs makes this collection really unify heritage craftsmanship with contemporary design. Amechi has designed in a way that lets you find your balance of play and relaxation with the ability to customise the colours within these rugs.
Please note that sizes are based on the widest points of the rug. Custom sizes available via the custom calculator, drop us a message with any questions.
Often called hand woven or kilims, flatweave rugs are made using a loom-weaving process that creates a neat alignment of yarn. A great technique for reproducing geometric pattern and also makes a good choice if budget is tight.
